Busia is a county in the former Western Province of Kenya. It borders Kakamega County to the east, Bungoma County to the north, Lake Victoria and Siaya County to the south and Busia District, Uganda to the west. It has seven administrative sub-counties: Nambale, Butula, Funyula, Budalangi, Matayos, Teso North, and Teso South. According to the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census the population is 893,681 with a population density of 550/km2

A Public Emergency Care Centre is any public health facility (including mission hospitals and NGOs) that receives acutely ill and injured patients, is open and staffed 24 hours a day, and has a functioning operating theatre.
