Meru

Meru County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya, located in the former Eastern Province. It borders Isiolo County to the North, Tharaka/Nithi County to the East, Nyeri County to the South West and Laikipia County to the West. It has nine administrative sub-counties: Buuri, Igembe North, Igembe South, Igembe Central, Imenti North, Imenti South, Tigania Central, Tigania East, and Tigania West. According to the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census the population is 1,545,714 with a population density of 220/km2

The WHO Emergency Care System Framework captures essential emergency care functions at the scene of injury or illness, during transport, and through to emergency unit and early inpatient care. Counties may achieve each function in different ways, based on available resources.

County Public Emergency Care Centres

A Public Emergency Care Centre is any public health facility (including mission hospitals and NGOs) that receives acutely ill and injured patients, is open and staffed 24 hours a day, and has a functioning operating theatre.
