Strengthening Emergency Care in Kisumu: EMKF Donates ECG Machine and Trains Healthcare Workers at Kisumu County Referral Hospital

At the Emergency Medicine Kenya Foundation (EMKF), our mission is clear—to support the strengthening of public emergency departments across Kenya to save lives. This week, we took another step toward that goal.

In partnership with the Kisumu County Department of Medical Services, Public Health & Sanitation, EMKF facilitated a hands-on ECG training session for healthcare providers at KCRH. This training not only enhanced providers’ capacity to recognize and manage cardiac emergencies but also reinforced our commitment to improving emergency medical care at the facility level.

To further strengthen cardiac care at the hospital, EMKF also donated a brand-new ECG machine—an essential device for the timely diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions.

The addition of this equipment, paired with targeted training, is a powerful example of our integrated approach: building both the capacity and infrastructure of public emergency departments to improve patient outcomes.

We are grateful for the collaboration with Kisumu County and proud to be part of a growing movement to ensure that every Kenyan—regardless of location—has access to timely, quality emergency care when they need it most.
